Workshop

»Carbonprint-Workshop«

with Francisco Gómez

Carbon printing (also known as carbon transfer) is one of the most unique alternative photography processes. Invented at the end of the 19th century it counts as one of the noble printing processes. Using pigmented gelatin rather than silver particles suspended in a uniform layer of gelatin, the resulting positives show an amazing quality, with great depth of grays and grain density, while being more resistant to fading and other sorts of deterioration.

Francisco Gómez (*1973, Buenos Aires) is an expert in this technique, with more than 15 years of experience as a teacher. He also co-authored the book ‘Experimental Photography’ (Thames and Hudson). This workshop is the result of a collaboration between the festival for contemporary analog photography Revela-T in Barcelona und analogueNOW!.
