I am excited to invite you to the opening of my solo exhibition, “MIKLAT / Shelter,” at the Atelier für Photographie in Berlin on Thursday, April 27 at 7pm.
The exhibition presents my latest work, a combination of photography, video and performance art. My subjects of exploration are the “miklatim” (shelters, in Hebrew) of the kibbutz in northern Israel, near the border with Lebanon, where I grew up, and my encounters with them today.
Opening event with live performance & Party: April 27, 2017 at 19:00
Gallery talk with the artist, Eyal Dinar, and curator, Itay Ganot, & Concert featuring Rakefet Amsalem: April 29, 2017 at 16:30

ARTraining – with Itay Ganot
“MIKLAT” was created under the guidance of Itay Ganot, the curator of this exhibition, and his ARTraining method. This method promotes a continuous dialogue between the artist’s vision, potential and his artistic expression.
The exhibition has received support from the Israeli Embassy in Germany.
Video editing assistance: Sarah Lüdemann
On-location photography assistance (Kibbutz Sasa): Eran Evan – ערן אבן
Text editing: Rachel Sur
I would like to thank Jörg Steinbach from the Atelier für Photographie for his support and cooperation.
Rakefet Amsalem is an Israeli singer-songwriter, who, in her concerts, combines “piyutim” (traditional Jewish liturgical poems) with original songs that she writes and composes. Her voice and music evoke the sounds of joy and longing, which are a bridge between different cultures and identities. Rakefet will perform a short concert at the exhibition on Saturday, April 29th.
