Sunlight’s subtle manifestations, both indoors and outside, are the subject of Berlin-based artist Dagmar Kolatschny. She explores the tremendous contrast between the sun as the life-giving force of our planet, an incomprehensibly powerful engine pouring its energy into space, and our perception of its often delicate and ethereal presence.
It is the easily overlooked, everyday moments she captures photographically: the pattern on the wall that is evident by the amount of light in the stairwell, plants, like ornaments grown up around a window pane, the sillouette of the city mirrored in the glaring sunlight.
