exp12 is a group of several photographers whose aim is to provide comtemporary photography and its authors with a platform for discourse and exchange. We are open to different topics, styles and visual languages. To us, photography becomes meaningful when long-term involvement with a topic and a personal engagement with the work and its perspective become visible.
exp12 considers itself a forum for photographers. It holds slide shows, discussion evenings and lectures. The presentation of new photography projects and books give insight into the individual work of each photographer. It is intended as a visible work in progress in order to promote the dialogue between photographers, curators, collectors, and the interested public.
In January 2010 exp12 opened as a producers’ gallery for contemporary photography in Berlin / Prenzlauer Berg with the exhibition ‘twelve exposures’. 12 individual views by Verena Blank, Eva Brunner, Dorothee Deiss, Mark de Longueville, Oona Eberle, Nadine Ethner, Olle Fischer, Birgit Krause, Claire Laude, Anna Meschiari, Susanne Schneider, Nicole Woischwill – curated by Nadine Koch. In summer 2011 photographer Isabel Kiesewetter and curator, Jenny Graser joined the collective.
The gallery presented in January 2012 ‘Vendredi treize’, its last show at Senfelderstrasse after two years of broadly acclaimed exhibitions by exp12-photographers and guests like Christopher Anhalt, Kerstin Zillmer, Marikel Lahana and Arno Fischer.
