Group Exhibition

»Developments. 20 years Gruppe 97«

Frank-Rüdiger Berger, Susanne Czichowski, Sylvia Forsten, Ursula Kelm (curator), Angela Kröll, Barbara Oehler

For the exhibition celebrating its 20th anniversary the Gruppe 97 chose “Developments” as its motto.

Developments – first of all this applies to the group itself: of the originally four founding members Ursula Kelm (curator) and Susanne Czichowski are still there. Four other members joined later: Sylvia Forsten, Frank-Rüdiger Berger, Barbara Oehler, and Angela Kröll.

Then, photography has also evolved over the past 20 years: from analogue to digital technology, from heavy SLR cameras to mobile phones, instead of spending hours in the darkroom now hours at the computer.

And of course: the members themselves have developed – physically, on the one hand, and also in their attitude towards photography, towards fellow human beings and the environment, towards themselves.
