Eva Grillhösl, Uta Genilke, Jacqueline Hirscher, Ralf Henning, Michael Kemmer, Regina Kramer, Jörg Meier, Kerstin Musl
Under the guidance of the photographer and lecturer Andreas Herzau the participants worked over the past 14 months, on their individual photographic projects. Intensive discussions, questions about the consolidation of a photographic authorship as well as image strategies and forms of presentation were the focus of the workshop.
Eva Grillhösl presents photographic “Urban Paintings” of a big city inspired by impressionist painting. Uta Genilke wanders along the old inner-German border between the Baltic Sea and the river Elbe – her pictures subjectively telling of the borderland in which she lives – a “Grey Zone”. Ralf Henning’s “Dead End Paradise” juxtaposes the tensions that arise at the EU’s external borders with the cracked image of a holiday paradise in the Mediterranean. Jacqueline Hirscher documents the everyday life of a family with physical disabilities from unusual perspectives in “If it takes longer again…”. “In Memoriam”, by Michael Kemmer invites to a game of thoughts with his series of objects: The claim of monuments for eternity and the ephemerality of packaging material. In “Where it was”, Regina Kramer is seeking for a new perspective on concentration camp memorials. What do the former camps actually mean to us? What do we want to discover there? And what exactly do we look at? Jörg Meier shows excerpts from his photographic investigations of familial “Tender Connections” within refugee families. Kerstin Musl shows portraits of her ongoing series “Musician, the”, whose ambition it is to make women in the music industry more visible and approachable.
